Jay-Z Brings His 'Kingdom' to NYC

"Wow," Jay-Z exclaimed from the stage at NYC's Roseland Ballroom Friday night. "Ya'll n**gas needed some real hip-hop back."

Hova, with a little help from Memphis Bleek, rocked the Big Apple something fierce, shooting off an arsenal of hits including '99 Problems,' 'Big Pimpin'' and 'Dirt Off Your Shoulder,' as well as new tracks from 'Kingdom Come,' his first album since emerging from retirement.

"New York City man," Jay yelled. "It feels good to be home, I gotta tell ya that." Presented by AOL Music LIVE!, the show was more than a homecoming for the hip-hop mogul. In addition to celebrating his album release, the event, dubbed 'H 2 the IzzO' benefit concert, raised almost $300,000 for PlayPumps International, a charity that helps provide clean water to poor African communities.

Jigga also paid tribute to several beloved, fallen hip-hop icons, including Biggie, 2Pac, Jam Master Jay and Aaliyah. "Throw a peace sign in the air," Jay instructed. "Get your two's up. They live on in our memory, and we gonna do this every show." He then led the crowd into a medley of tunes by the late stars, highlighting Big's 'Mo' Money, Mo' Problems,' Pac's 'Hail Mary' and Aaliyah's 'Missing You.'

"You coulda been anywhere in the world tonight," Jay said, "but you here in New York City. We surely appreciate it. It's a beautiful thing."

I cant believe i just read all of this off topic outrage....now listen, i wont knock anyone for feelin offended by that word...but...im sayin, RELAX. I was at the show and had a goooood time. The show was off the hook. Stop payin attention to every little detail! GEEZ. Gettin all bent up and out of shape...meanwhile, ur missin the point. Ok, if ya had a "social" life...then you wouldnt waste your time bad-mouthing other peoples lives or actions. And media-controlled? Come on... Now that im gettin off topic, let me fall back. Jay-Z's performance was nothing short of amazing. He is a true lyricist..and if you take the time to listen to his work...(esp Kingdom Come), You will see that he speaks on alot more than just tha words only ignorant people would dwell on. Great example, listen to Beach Chair. I aint forcin my opinion...its just i saw a whole bunch of negativity and needed to come along and regulate.

You people are a bunch of haters. Michael richards has no business saying the word especially the way he did. But black people took the evil out of the word N***a.As an african american/latina woman I admit I use the word, but never in a negative fashion. How long are we going to dwell on the past. Time to move foward!!!! Also F**k, S**t, B***h, and many other words are bad too. Do we stop using those? Those words hurt people too.

Well.. Are we being mean to each other calling each other Niggers foreal? Over looking it because we say it so often? Not every black person likes to be called a nigger even by our own people.

It's an unsult and a bad word period there's nothing good about the word period the word means negativity and breeds hatred in the black community. Does it make a difference in the white community if they say nigger?

We say it like it means friend for gods sake!! Oh that's my Nigger over there. That Isht sounds like trash mouth ignorance certain rappers live in trash mouth environments and haven't learned better. Hell listen to Jay Z he took a trip to Africa the poorest and still he calls out nigger..
Hmm what have we all learned here?

Bottom line it is whomever says the word Ni**er is wrong . Joking around or not , you gotta remember though Michael Richards said it trying to be hurtful and mean he is a racists he need to stop bull*hitt*** and just say it keep it real Im sure white people call each other crack*** in front of other white people but yes we need to stop it I dont say it Martin Luther King died to stop all of this ignorance im sure he would not be happy with people jokingly using a word that hurts so many

I was at the show, initally listening to the hits that made him JAYZ was hot. But after awhile, the show was mad boring. His cockiness seemed to have spew out. The pacing and bouncing all over the stage while performing where extremely boring. And using the word Nigga, was even more of an insult.

To be honest, it was nice that it was all for charity. But the performance suck big time...

I find this funny.
He can say "Nigga" because hes black, but Michael Richards can't because everyone flips out.

No, I don't want to hear the differences, it's ignorance and this stuff is what starts the whole scheme of racism, and I probably won't ever be back to this site.
Nobody ever reports BET for being flat our racist.
Makes me smile to know I'm growing up in a world where people contradict themselfs.

N i g g a, what?

-Signed someone who has a social life, and is just pointing out the obvious things people ignore, in a media controlled world.
