I am a country music fan who enjoyed listening to the Dixie Chicks prior the London incident and thought "Taking The Long Way Home" was an excellent album. It's ironic that The Dixie Chicks were once one of the bestselling and most popular country groups and suddenly were derided as untalented whores who can't sell a record and can't sell out stadiums. The attitudes that people have expressed on message board deal little with the inherent quality of their music. People who want to see America light up Iraq like the Fourth of July and put a boot up their ass because its the American way think the Dixis Chicks are untalented bimbos. The blue staters primarily focus on the bravery of the Dixie Chicks to speak truth to power. The Grammy's should be about music not politics. Neil Young's "Life During War" was an extended diatribe against the Bush administration's war in Irag. Musically and lyrically it lacked any sense of subtlety and seems to have been quickly thrown together. I was surprised to see that it had been nominated for a Grammy since it was not a very good album even if it was "politically correct". "Taking the Long Way Home" is the first country album I have bought in a long time. I bought it because I wanted to hear it and the two country stations in my city won't play anything by them. "Taking the Long Way Home" is a good album musically and it should be judged on those merits not whether you think George Bush is the Messiah's messenger or the devil incarnate.
