Mary J. Blige Runs Away With Ludacris

As someone who's been a fan since 'What's The 411?,' I am too thrilled to see Mary J. Blige finally get her due with the '07 Grammys for Best R&B Song, Female Vocal and Album. In true fashion, MJB testified and held super-long notes for her performance of 'Be Without You.' At one point, I thought she was going to kick off her shoes like Patti LaBelle and start crying "Where were you Daddy?" (Just kidding Mar, you know I love you.)

While I didn't really care for the overdose of gold she donned on the red carpet, I was feeling the whole throwback Farrah Fawcett vibe she rocked during Ludacris' 'Runaway Love.' Watch out, girl. I already copied your '92 hairstyle with the slicked down pieces in the front and the spring curls in the back; don't make me bite this one too.

That Christina girls dedication performance to James Brown was truly outstanding!! It's quite rare that you see a performance like that in todays world. Mary J really looks good and is finally getting her due.

Terrifide...you are not true music fan. What does color of hair have to do with soul? Christina is young but as you can see she she is a musica fan as well. Her musical influences are in Jazz and Soul as you may or may not know. Yes she is young but that s doesn't mean anything, I don't see anyone else out there that could have nailed it like she did.....(mariah carey? )..... Good Job Christina!!!

MJB was on point although I do believe she should have caught AT LEAST 4 of her eight nom's. To me, they shorchanged her. I absolutely LOVED Christina's performance, although I did aggree with (terrifide at 12:05AM on Feb 14th 2007) at first. I would've liked to see someone black perform that song, yet when I think about it, I couldn't really think of african american anyone who could have delivered it so realisticly and profoundly as she did, and who also has her range. Shakira-LOVED IT. Beyonce- HATED IT. Ludacris, could've stayed home. Chris Brown- YOU ROCK!!

Christina nailed that performance. I'll be disappointed if she doesn't get an Emmy nomination.

Christina's performance was on my mind today also.
I kept wondering what was going threw the mind of the person who thought of having one of the the main tributes to the "Godfather of Soul" be presented by a blond headed white woman who probably isn't even old enough to realize the immeasurable contributions James Brown has made to every genre of music!
I am usually a fan of Christina A. I think her singing is phenominal;so my disappointment was not necessarily with her or her performance. It seemed to me almost like a slap in the face and I was immediately offended. I would have liked to have seen many more black people involved in the tribute, maybe some who were also known for their soulful contributions.

Christina, I don't know if they have actually buried James Brown or not -- but girlfriend -- you rocked the house last night. I was so initially impressed with MJB, she was awesome, but Christina you brought tears to my eyes. I'm sure the God father heard every word and note. I just wish I had taped it. Your performance has been on my mind all day, If anyone finds video clip of her tribute to James Brown please post. Thanks

Have I lost my mind or was that Mary J Blige singing my all-time favorite song, "Stay With Me Baby" at the Grammys? I caught a clip of it this morning on CNN but I'm not certain. anyway I can't find a video of it anywhere on the Net, man if anyone knows what I'm talking about and where I can view it, (yes I confess, I missed the show, past my bedtime) but I love that song and I HAVE to see it. so please if anyone knows where I can find the video. As for the Dixie Chicks, how come it was okay for Neil Young to speak out against the war but not these beautiful talented Texan women?
