Webster Adds 'Crunk' to the Dictionary

In the wise words of the man who helped make it a household word: "Yeahhh, okay!" Merriam-Webster finally catches up with what hip-hop fans have known about for years: crunk! The Dirty South stylings of Lil Jon, Three 6 Mafia, Ying Yang Twins and more get their spot in the big book with the company's latest collegiate edition, published this fall.

Merriam-Webster defines crunk as "a style of Southern rap music featuring repetitive chants and rapid dance rhythms."

Also added to the go-to tome are "ginormous," "Bollywood," "sudoku," "smackdown," "DVR," "telenovela" and about 100 more.

If you're scratching your head, take a look at a textbook example from Lil Jon and the East Side Boyz, the Kings of Crunk themselves, after the jump. There will be a quiz on this later.
