Akon Concert Set Collapses, Show Canceled

A dark cloud continues to follow R&B singer Akon. Three workers were hurt when part of an outdoor stage set being built for the singer at Emory University in Atlanta collapsed Thursday afternoon. No students were injured, but Dekalb County officials said two workers were taken to a local hospital with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries. The concert was subsequently canceled.

In April, Akon, who opened for Gwen Stefani on the Sweet Escape Tour, stirred up controversy when he simulated a sex act with a 14-year-old girl during a show in Trinidad and Tobago. Akon insisted he wasn't at fault because the club claimed to have an 18-years and over age limit.

The singer later apologized for the incident on the song, 'Sorry, Blame It On Me,' which was released on iTunes and Akon's MySpace page. Prior to the release of the apology track, Akon was filmed lifting a fan onto his shoulders and tossing him into the crowd during a performance in Fishkill, NY. Fishkill authorities are still investigating that incident.

There is no word if the Emory University concert will be rescheduled.

That little HO should of spoke up and said something as soon as Akon lifted her up or walked off the stage. I don't see why he is getting the blame!

He is not a rapper, he is a singer and much in-demand producer who has made a bunch of hits and, unfortunately, more than his share of errors in judgment. There is nothing wrong with his nose...it is the nose God gave him. Now if he could only keep it out of trouble, he wouldn't be subjected to such public, racist comments...he could just deal with the, subtle entrenched racism that permeates the human experience, particularly that in AmeriKKKa.

Simulated sex act...it doesn't matter...simulated is still emoral...yes I'm a old fuddy dud..what happened to concert that people actually sang instead of people throwing each other, sex and ect. Do they have to do all these antics to hold the people...these aren't singers and I don't think they should be called one.

Blame it on Bush....it's probably his fault this rapper turned out the way he did. He gets blamed for everything else, may as well get on his case about this too. Or blame the Liberals, I don't really care!! Yes, this was meant as sarcasm....I just find it funny how some people got to turn every topic on AOL into some political debate.

its funny...the words akon and singer in the same sentence! this guy is one of the luckiest people in the world. it is becoming obvious that the american people dont give a shit about what they listen to...if they can put a no talent waste of human flesh like this on the air and pay top dollar to watch him strut his ugly ass across the stage- then more power to akon. he is laughing all the way to the bank...but if he keeps up his behavior....he'll soon be crying behind bars...it is just a matter of time....

Uh, how many times will it take for these idiots to learn that these so called rappers need to just shut up... this is ridiculous... whether the club supposedly had an "18" yrs of age rule or not.. keep your hands to yo self and situations like these wouldn't come up... who the heck names their child Akon in the first place, and if that was not his given name, why would you call yourself such stupidity... it's not a black thing... it's a shame that people have taken music and just totally created nothing but a mess... some of the lyrics today are just pathetic and to think people actually spend their money on this bulls&%$... And you wonder why our children use foul language and it's the norm for a girl to dance and yell out "oh yea, that's my jam... and the song is called what, "Pimpin Ain't Easy", or lyrics like.. "you a whore, or you a B*&^%, hmm and that's exactly why they end up getting jacked up cause they don't know their worth cause they're with some idiot who talks to them just like that, and a girl accepts it as if the idiot is worth something... and then they go and get upset because some guy calls them nappy headed whore's... please... you don't let anyone talk to you that way, it should not matter what race they are... why is it ok for a black guy to call a black girl a whore, bi%$#, nigga, etc.. but as soon as someone white says it, it becomes a problem.. double standards... I don't care what your race is, refer to me in that manner, hope you have good insurance cause you are gonna need some serious dental work... females... let's be Ladies, not just females, a real Lady is one who has respect for herself and does not allow anyone to refer to her as anything other than just that A LADY... if you walk like a Lady... no one will ever call you a whore, bit^&, trick, etc.... and stop supporting these idiots.. stop spending your money on their filthe, stop buying tickets to these mindless concerts...
