Kelis has been dropped from Jive Records after the disappointing sales of her 2006 album, 'Kelis Was Here.' Like former labelmates the Clipse, Kelis was originally signed to Neptunes' Star Trak Entertainment, which was later moved to Arista, but ended up with Jive.
"It was a case of being in the ever-shrinking world of the record industry and finding herself on a label she wasn't signed to and without a champion," Kelis' manager, Jeff Rabhan told Entertainment Weekly. "She's a different kind of artist -- very image and style-driven. It's either something you get or you don't."
The singer is not letting her recent split get her down. Kelis is currently working on an indie dance record with Cee-Lo, who's featured on 'Lil Star' off of 'Kelis Was Here.'
