Arrest Warrant Issued After R. Kelly Misses Court Appearance

R&B star R. Kelly is in more hot water after failing to appear in court for his child pornography case. Kelly's attorneys claim the singer's tour bus was stopped in Utah while en route to Chicago from Sacramento causing a two-hour delay. But that didn't stop Cook County Judge Vincent Gaughan from entering a warrant for Kelly's arrest, which will take effect Thursday, pending Kelly's scheduled arrival to court at 9am.

Assistant State Attorney Shauna Bolicker commented on Kelly's absence saying, "It is an abuse of the process and disrespectful of the court and your honor," she said. "[With] the leeway the court has given him to go on a 45-city tour ... the very least he could do is be here for his appointed court date."

Kelly was slapped with child pornography charges in 2002 for allegedly videotaping himself having sex with a minor. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Judge Gaughan is prepared to set a trial date for the much-delayed case on Thursday. If convicted, Kelly could face up to 15 years in prison. Read the full story.
