Grammy-nominated rapper Remy Ma will face the heat when her assault trial begins next month. A New York Supreme Court justice has scheduled jury selection to begin on March 6. The rapper, whose real name is Reminisce Smith, turned herself in and was charged with attempted murder, which was later reduced to first-degree assault, in connection with a shooting in New York's Meatpacking District in July 2007.
Smith is accused of shooting her longtime friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph in the stomach for allegedly lifting $2,000 from her purse.
The 26-year-old rapper has pleaded not guilty to assault and related charges. Smith could face up to 25 years in prison if convicted. Read the full story.
