The family of R&B singer Sean Levert wants the FBI to look into his death following a medical emergency in jail. The family is questioning the methods used by the prison guards on the night of Levert's sudden death. According to Cuyahoga County jail warden Kevin McDonough, Levert was pounding on his cell door, which resulted in the guards strapping the 39-year-old in a restraint chair in the psychiatric ward. "Our medical people were called and got him to the hospital," McDonough said in a statement. Michael Gibson, Levert's cousin, questions McDonough's account of the events that took place that night.
The 39-year-old Levert died Sunday night at a hospital after he was taken from the county jail where he was serving a one year and 10 months sentence for failure to pay more than $80,000 in child support.

The first time I read about this story, it did not say anything about him banging on his cell. Now the story is he was banging on his cell doors or bars like he was crazy or something. So thats the way they took it. and restraint him and put him in the psychiatric ward. Now do they want us to believe that he was not telling them he was not feeling good? Yes he told them, but because he was who he was, they felt he was just trying to get some tention. But FBI or not, we will never know why he did not get the medical help he was asking for when he was banging on them walls. GOD BLESS THE LAVERT FAMILY ONCE AGAIN...........

I knew there was something not right about Sean's death. He did not need to be restrained, he needed some air, some space so that he could calm down. Instead they restrained him which he did not need and helped contribute to his death. There's just no telling what they did to Sean. May God bless this family and give them peace.

Why didn't the family help with the large payment. A lawyer could have helped him stay out of jail I think. So either pay the big bucks or go to jail. After completing the jail time does the large payment go away? All those years of singing and that family could not help with the payment. Was he making a statement by going to jail? Did the guy rather go to jail than pay the money? It' seems to me some type of payment plan could have bee established or family should have helped. Now he's gone. Was it worth it?

First of all I'm saddened to hear about the sudden death of Sean Levert. Most prisoners don't get the medical attention they need because the correctional officers believe they're trying to get attention and out of their cells with false medical problems. Unfortunately, I believe this is the case of Sean and most other prisoners. Because he's famous this made national news, but so many "non celebrities'" deaths and medical problems are never mentioned and this is very sad. I think this situation could have been avoided if he'd received medical attention in time. My heart goes out to his dad. This must be an awful thing to out live 2 of your sons. Both were extremely talented and the music world has lost 2 pioneers.

Personally I feel celebrity or not, He should have paid his Child Support. None of this would have ever Happened. Mother's have to raise their children, and we need Help! What did he think ??? Did he Think that Because he was Sean Levert he did not have to pay "CHILD SUPPORT"....This is a Result of not handeling your "BUSINESS"......In jail He's just another Prisoner....." NO SPECIAL TREATMENT" they make sure they prove that point.

Words can never express what I feel for Eddie and family. God bless you and may he send you peace in your time of loss. Know that no matter how or in what situation a loved one has to leave us, God had already predestined that time. So keep your head up and continue to look to God for peace and understanding.
