Remy Ma Sentenced to Eight Years in Prison

Remy Ma was sentenced to eight years in prison for shooting her longtime friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph in the stomach for allegedly lifting $3,000 from her purse. The 26-year-old rapper was found guilty of first-degree assault, criminal weapons charges and attempted coercion on March 27.

"I stand here today as Remy Mackie," she said before the judge read the sentence. "I'm a loving wife, mother and loving daughter and loving sister to my brothers and sisters." Remy wept as she apologized to Barnes-Joseph, but the judge did not sympathize with the rap diva.

"This is somewhat of a pattern. This is not the first time she has been engaged in a violent act. She never took responsibility for her actions,"the judge said. "This has nothing to do with rap it's about the actions of one person. Remy is an extremely angry young woman who feels the rules do not apply to her."

"A wedding was scheduled today and a visitor to that wedding service was found to be in possession of jail contraband so the wedding was canceled," a correction official said. Papoose was not charged, but the rapper was escorted out of the jail and will not be able to visit Remy for six months.

Okay.....Remy Ma is cool but did they said she was crying in court. Remy, see what goes around comes around. Remember when you were talking about Lil Kim....the Baddest Bitch in the rap game in my eyes. Just do your eight and take it like a woman. I mean damn you are "conceited." So, now you got a REASON. The love is good...the lovin, the lovin,' is good.....lol.

Terrible. But the thing that kills me is that Remy never took responsibility for the shooting and everyone seems pissed at the victim. I am sure there is more to the story but the fact remains that someone got shot twice and could have died. Whether it was a struggle or a direct attempt, Remy produced the gun in question. The victim wants to sue and she is seen as someone just out for money. Would you rather have her return the favor and shoot Remy in the stomach? There is still no justification in this case for someone to get shot over $3000. Blah, blah blah that's how they do it in the streets...Grow up peeps. The bottom line is you have to be held accountable for your actions.
