R. Kelly's trial for child pornography charges took a strange turn Wednesday. Testimony was abruptly halted when the defense informed the court that a surprise witness voluntarily came forward and is expected to testify. The new witness could potentially throw a monkey wrench in the prosecution's case, though there's been no word on what the unidentified man's relationship is to Kelly, the victim, or the prosecution's key witness -- an Atlanta woman who was scheduled take the stand yesterday and testify that she had a threesome with the Grammy award-winning singer and an underage girl.
"I have no idea what's going on," Judge Vincent Gaughan admitted. "But it might be impeachment of this witness."
Kelly was slapped with child pornography charges in 2002 for allegedly videotaping himself having sex with a minor. If convicted, the crooner could face up to 15 years in prison.
