Relatives of the alleged victim in the R. Kelly child pornography case took the stand Wednesday and denied that their relative is the same girl that appears in the infamous sex tape. Four family members testified earlier in the case that the underage girl is in fact their relative. Leroy Edwards Jr., the alleged victim's uncle, admitted during cross examination that the high profile case has split their family in half. The victim's cousin, Shonna Edwards, 27, took the stand and testified that she doesn't recognize the female in the sex tape. "It definitely wasn't her," Edwards claimed, adding that the girl -- who would've been about 13 years old when the tape was made -- was too developed to be their relative.
The defense team tried another strategy and attempted to discredit the prosecution's star witness, Lisa Van Allen, who testified on Monday that she engaged in a threesome with the Grammy award-winning singer and the alleged victim. Kelly's attorneys claim Allen and her fiance asked for $300,000 in exchange for their silence.
The 41-year-old crooner is charged with 14 counts of child pornography for allegedly videotaping himself having sex with an underage girl. If convicted, Kelly faces up to 15 years in prison. Read the full story.
