Lil Wayne's 'Tha Carter III' has proven that fans will go out and purchase your album, even if they've heard 80% of the record on the radio and the internet.According to Nielsen SoundScan via Billboard Magazine, the New Orleans-bred emcee's new album sold 423,000 copies on its first day. This puts the rapper on pace to sell close to a million records its first week, which would be the year's highest album sales, topping superstars Madonna and Mariah Carey. Before Wayne, Carey's E=MC2 was the year's top-seller with approximately 463,000 albums sold.
If 'Tha Carter III' sells a million albums by Tuesday, it'll have surpassed Kanye West's Grammy award-winning third album, 'Graduation,' which sold a whopping 957,000 in its first week on the shelves.

If lil wayne is so bad then what are you doing to help make him better or any rapper or hip hop period....dont worry I'll wait....There is no such thing as REAL HIP HOP, REAL LYRICS, OR REAL MUSIC....If artists write it with passion then its REAL HIP HOP with REAL LYRICS, and if people buy it then to them its REAL MUSIC...stop comparing and help bring hip hop up by supporting it!!

Everyody keeps saying that wayne dont deserve these sells, first of all there has never been an artist who put in as much studio work as he has granted tupac had alot of recorded tracks but not as many hot ones. wayne could have released any one of those mix cd's and outsold your so calle true hip hop artists,what it all boils down to is you cant blame lil wayne for your favorite artist's lack of vision.
