Diddy does music. Diddy does marathons. Diddy even did a movie. Now, the music mogul's foray into Broadway and television may score him an Emmy. Okay, not exactly! The entertainer extraordinaire was not recognized for his actual performance in the television adaption of Lorraine Hansberry's 1959 play 'A Raisin in the Sun,' but the made-for-TV movie, which he produced, was acknowledged by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. 'A Raisin in the Sun' will go head-to-head with 'Bernard and Doris' (HBO), 'Extras: The Extra Special Series Finale' (HBO, BBC), 'Recount' (HBO) and 'The Memory Keeper's Daughter' (Lifetime) in the Outstanding Made for Television Movie category at the 60th annual Primetime Emmy Awards.
Tony-award winning actress Phylicia Rashad was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for her work in the television movie. Rashad became the first African-American actress to win the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Play, for her role in the revival of the Broadway play. Audra McDonald was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Miniseries Or A Movie. The 60th annual Primetime Emmy Awards will air live on September 21.
