De La Soul, Too $hort, Naughty By Nature, Cypress Hill and Slick Rick will recognized by VH1 and their peers when the network airs the fifth annual 'Hip Hop Honors' special on October 7. Tracy Morgan returns as host of the special event that celebrates the 30 plus years of hip-hop and its pioneers. As usual, VH1 will mix it up a bit with dedications to MCs from all areas of hip-hop. The Native Tongues' De La Soul, one of the longest standing groups from that movement, will be recognized right as the trio wraps up their appearance on the Rock the Bells International festival. The program will also acknowledge West Coast MCs Cypress Hill, Rick the Ruler, the sexually-charged music of Too $hort and New Jersey's own Naughty By Nature, who brought us party classics 'Hip Hop Hooray' and 'OPP.'
