Da Brat Sentenced to Three Years for Nightclub Assault

Former rap diva-turned-VH1 reality star ('Surreal Life,' 'Celebrity Fit Club') Da Brat was sentenced to three years in prison for hitting a woman with a rum bottle at Jermaine Dupri's Atlanta nightclub, Studio 72, last year.

According to Dekalb County police, the rapper, whose real name is Shawntae Harris, and the waitress got into an altercation resulting in a "deep laceration" and permanent scarring on the 23-year-old waitress' cheek.

This wasn't the rapper's first run-in with the law. Da Brat was arrested in March of 2000, for allegedly pistol-whipping a partygoer at Buckhead hot spot Chili Pepper.

I am glad to see that the law is finally holding accountable the ignorant rants of these spoiled by money and notoriety entertainers who think that they are above the law. I don't like this DA Brats' music anyway and I'm certainly glad that my children equally have a disdain for this gals music and lyrics. Ghetto is ghetto-you-can take the girl out of the ghetto but her actions certainly prove that you can not take the ghetto out of the girl. It's really too bad because she seemed to be an intelligent person by some of the things she said on that reality show but the proof is in the pudding. So far as her being a strong black female-get off it-maya angelo is a strong black woman this gal is a very angry and misunderstood girl that needs some serious counseling not praise for acting like a class a fool. women are women stop seperating us by race and the masses will follow. We are women-we are strong.
