Presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama has garnered a ton of support from celebrities and musicians, especially the hip-hop community, so it was a little jarring to hear that Puerto Rican rapper Daddy Yankee was backing Republican Sen. John McCain. The Reggaeton rapper appeared at a Phoenix high school to offer his official endorsement. "I believe in his ideals and his proposals to lead this nation," Yankee said. "He's been a fighter for the Hispanic community." Yankee's endorsement sparked fellow Puerto Rican MC Fat Joe's response.
"Put this in the MTV News headline: 'Fat Joe Says Daddy Yankee Is a Sellout,' " Joe told MTV via phone from Denver, where he's attending the Democratic National Convention. "Just like that! I gotta go in. I'm talking to little cousins that like [Yankee] and all that, and they're starting to believe that John McCain is [the best candidate]. I can't have that."

Joe went on to say that he's sickened by Yankee's actions and feels that it's a publicity stunt. "The reason why I called him a sellout is because I feel he did that for a [publicity] look, rather than the issues that are affecting his people that look up to him," Joe explained. "How could you want John McCain in office when George Bush and the Republicans already have half a million people losing their homes in foreclosure? We're fighting an unjust war. It's the Latinos and black kids up in the frontlines, fighting that war. ... We over here trying to take the troops out of Iraq and bring peace. This guy immediately wants war. If not with Iraq or Afghanistan, he'll start a new one with Iran. I feel real disgusted that Daddy Yankee would do that. Either he did that for a look, or he's just not educated on politics."

I feel where Fat Joe is coming from. As a Latina myself, I was very disappointed to found out that Daddy Yankee’s endorsement for McCain. Just as Fat Joe pointed out that majority of Republicans are not ordinary people because of what they have in their pockets. What does Daddy Yankee have in common with McCain? “McCain: He’s been a fighter for the Hispanic Community.” But if you look at it now, he had not done much but talk about what he has “done” for the Latino/Hispanic community. If you can recall, Senator Kennedy was also fighting for the Hispanic/Latino community along side McCain, but he (and his family) was here in Denver, endorsing Obama. That was the hot topic for the day, ask him now, what he can do for us, the Hispanic/Latinos. Keep us at war; let us lose our homes and keep the same polices as the Bush. As for the Daddy Yankee, he needs to do his homework and understands what are the real policies, concerns and issues that are facing not only the Americans, but also us Hispanic/Latino population.
We need to take a stand and make a change, if it is not for ourselves but for our children’s future. Vote Obama 2008.

I'm sure it must really hurt to have fat joe call you a sellout because he knows so much more than we do about politics. oh wait no he doesn't. maybe he's just a moron with a big mouth, yes I'm sure thats it.
Rogerat 8-30-2008
Now how many stories that are not right are place on line ,Yankee is not backing Mc Cain fools he is backing John Paul!

Fat Joe needs to shut his fat mouth. No party is responsible for people losing homes. Its the people and crooks that made bad loans with high intrest and were stupid enough to buy and sign for a over priced home. Greedy people lost and familys got caught in the net. They need to blame themselves.
Live up to Responsiblity.
No white or black politician is going to take care of the Latino community. Not even the Latinos in power they end up taking the white side of politics and leave the Latino voters who put them in office behind thats real talk if you think Obama is going to help or McCain good luck with life. I realized noone is going to help the Latino community. Either vote the Latino community loses.

Hell yea! I agree with Live up to Responsiblity. But the about your vote it matters regardless. It not only about the latino community is about the minority community as a whole. We all got to stick together so that the white side of politics doesn't always win.... that just me though trying to be postive

I could really care less what color of skin a candidate has. If the politician has the ability, and if they fit in with my political agenda, it wouldn't matter to me if they were purple with green polka dots, I'd vote for them. It just seems like neither side is very appealing. I'm only voting for McCain because Obama never seems to be able to make a proper decision.
Stephen Colbert should have tried to get the republican nomination. At least he aggressively attacks the subject, speaks his mind, and can be on wits with almost anyone in politics.
Colbert for 2012!

people seem to think that if their candidate of choice gets elected that all our problems are going to be solved. thats not the case. no matter who gets elected, were going to have the same stuff going on. not much is going to change trust me. this election is way over hyped.

All these kids now days just be "followers" , doing what their mtv famous people are doing. Heres a good idea why dont kids go out play a sport or get involved in their community? instead of sitting on the couch and watching mtv! Now days kids are just going with the flow, having no ideas of their own. And these "famous" rappers say this and that about the republicans but you never see them giving back to their community , never living where they grew up!! so before fat joe opens his fat trap, let us see what he has done for the nation and his own "people" in the nation?
