50 Cent is becoming quite the movie star. The rapper is set to appear in '13,' a remake of Gela Babluani's 2005 film '13 Tzameti,' alongside Mickey Rourke and Jason Statham. The film, which centers around a stolen package, mistaken identity and underground game of Russian roulette, was originally shot in French, but has been rewritten in English by the Georgian-born director, and will begin shooting in New York in mid-November.While there's no information yet as to which characters the three actors will play, it's safe to say that Statham and 50 will play goons and Rourke will likely play a former boxer of some kind.
The original film was amazing, if you didn't look at the box art or watch the trailer, which basically gave the entire plot away. It was shot in black and white, and had a tense, claustrophobic feel to it, which slowly built throughout the film. When we first heard rumors of the remake, it was said to feature everyone from Joaquin Phoenix and Tobey Maguire to Heath Ledger and Leonardo DiCaprio, but we can only assume, given the goons involved now, that this version will be much more heavy handed and violent, and we're fine with that. We will now patiently await Kanye's inevitably foray into acting so that he and Curtis can battle it out on the big screen.
