Kanye West Pats Himself on the Back, Celebrates 'Heartless' Success

"I feel like a new artist," Kanye West wrote on his blog as he celebrated the success of his latest single, 'Heartless.' The producer/rapper's new album, '808s & Heartbreak' received mixed reviews but that's not stopping West from patting himself on his back and thanking his fans for supporting the project, which has been considered an extreme departure from past releases.

"There's actually arguments again. It reminds me of the first album, when everybody said I couldn't rap," West wrote. The rapper admits that he wasn't pleased with his last album, 'Graduation.' West admits that "certain records" kept 'Graduation' from having a broad appeal, but notes that '808s' "can play right next to Vampire Weekend, Sade or Silverchair in a high end fashion store."

The rapper goes on to defend/uplift '808s' by proclaiming that the album, which debuted at No. 1 on the charts, is worth the fuss. "It doesn't sound like everything else ever made in history," West said. "This is new music! It might take some getting used to, but when it sets in, it will make all the difference!"

I like the fact that Kanye believes in himself.
You can't go by what the critics say. And he can't let other people tell hiim how to do HIS music.
I think that 808's is unique. I believe that his mom would have been proud.

I'm a Kanye fan...but Kanye, this may be the first time a rapper has made music like this, but pick up a fatboy slim or Moby album and you can hear that you are certainly not the first to make the music on 808's.

He's incredible! What an extraordinarily original artist! Nobody has ever made such unbelievable music before!
All other musicians should just give up. I'm writing President-elect Obama now to see if he can re-name a state for this guy - we can call it West Kanye, or something. How did the world get along before he came on the scene?
