On January 7th, a member of newbie rapper Asher Roth's band forcibly detained a man claiming to have a bomb on a flight bound for Los Angeles. As the Delta flight was making its final descent into LAX, the band's heroic guitarist/bassist, Chris Llewellyn, heard a flight attendant yelling, "Help me, help me" in the back of the plane, and immediately ran to the attendant's aid.
"We were all sitting in our seats," Llewellyn told the Los Angeles Times. "My boys had their headphones on. I turned around and got up and ran to the back of the plane. The suspect was yelling, 'Don't come near me, I have a bomb, I have a bomb!'"
Llewellyn was joined by six fellow passengers, who were able to subdue the suspect after he made an attempt to open the rear emergency exit door.
"We all jumped him," Llewellyn said. "He was struggling hardcore. I was holding down his arm. Somebody had a foot on his head. Everyone was holding down a different body part. He was going nuts. I was telling him to chill because he's not going anyplace."
The unidentified man, who "had his hands in his shirt," was subdued with plastic ties. There has been no information to confirm whether he actually had a bomb.
Roth and his band were flying to Los Angeles make an appearance on Carson Daly's show, where they both performed and briefly discussed the incident on Jan. 7. "I'm just happy Chris was there and had the courage to do something," Roth later said in an interview with radio personality Cipha Sounds. "He held it down, dude."
