Dipset "Capo" Jim Jones pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor assault charges in Manhattan Criminal Court on Feb. 4. The rapper was charged for his role in an altercation with Ne-Yo's manager, this past Christmas Eve (giving new meaning to 'Dipset Christmas,' ho ho ho), which occurred in the Louis Vuitton New York flagship store, of all places. Jones turned himself in immediately after the scuffle.
According to a "law enforcement source" close to the case, a surveillance camera caught footage of Jimmy "hitting and kicking" Ne-Yo's manager Jayvon Smith, whose brother Ty Ty is Jay-Z's road manager.
Smith is suing for $7 million, claiming the assault "caused redness, swelling and substantial pain." Jones, who has had a longstanding feud with Jay-Z, dismissed the suit, describing the entire case as nothing more than "an expensive inconvenience."
Released on his own recognizance, Jones is due back in court on March 24, the same day that his album 'Pray IV Reign' is scheduled for release.
