Surprise, surprise!! Lil Wayne beat out fellow hip-hop heavyweights Jay-Z, Nas and T.I. and snagged Best Rap Album at the 51st Grammy Awards. The New Orleans rap star owned 2008 when his sixth studio album, 'Tha Carter III,' went platinum in just one week. Wayne received eight Grammy nods and walked away with a whopping four awards. Not only did Wayne snag a bunch of awards, the rapper took the stage twice, first with Jay-Z, Kanye West and T.I., then with Robin Thicke, Terence Blanchard and Alain Toussaint.
Kanye West's 'Graduation' grabbed the Grammy gold in this category last year. The nomination was the first Best Rap Album acknowledgement for Lil Wayne, meanwhile his competition have all been nominated in past years.
