After much speculation, media reports confirm that Rihanna is the alleged victim in the ongoing Chris Brown assault investigation. According to reports, the incident is now being described as assault with a deadly weapon and Rihanna, whose real name is Robyn Fenty, was named as the victim in the crime report. Brown was arrested and booked for making criminal threats, but posted $50,000 bail Sunday evening. The 19-year-old singer is under investigation for alleged domestic violence felony battery stemming from an incident that occurred early Sunday morning.
Brown and the alleged victim (Rihanna) were reportedly involved in a heated argument in their vehicle that eventually spilled out of the car into the street at 12:30AM on Sunday. According to police officials, Brown fled the scene before LAPD arrived, but the victim named the singer as the assailant. An official police statement said the woman in the incident "suffered visible injuries."
The pair were spotted together at the Clive Davis pre-Grammy party Saturday evening, but both artists skipped the actual awards ceremony. Grammy officials issued a statement confirming Brown's and Rihanna's absence. Neither artist has released a statement about the incident, although Rihanna's reps said, "Rihanna is well. Thank you for your concern and support."
