Lil' Kim Owes Close to $1 Million in Back Taxes

While Lil' Kim is two-stepping up a storm on 'Dancing with the Stars,' she still has some legal problems to tend to. The Brooklyn, N.Y. rapper owes $979,090 in both state and federal taxes. The delinquent payments, which go back to 2004, cross both New York and New Jersey state lines but also include negligent payments to the state of California. As a result, the IRS has filed tax warrants and liens against the Grammy winner.

"Lil' Kim is paying her tax debt and will continue to do so," her spokeswoman Lisa Perkins said in statement. Although Kim doesn't dispute the charges, as of late the 33-year-old performer has run into problems paying her bills. Last year her Bentley was repossessed for four missed payments.

Once a staple in the female rapper category, Kim has not dropped an album in four years. Her last project ,'The Naked Truth,' released in 2005 was received well by critics. Promotion of the album was minimal as Kim was serving an 11-month sentence for lying to a grand jury about a friend's involvement in a shooting outside of New York City radio station, Hot 97.

Since her release, Kim got back into the swing of things signing on to be a judge on two reality shows. She garnered headlines earlier this year over her outrage surrounding the film 'Notorious.' The biopic, which chronicled the life of her former love interest Notorious B.I.G., left Kim unhappy with the cinematic piece. According to reports, Kim felt that her depiction in the film was a sensationalized attempt by Big's wife and mother to minimize her involvement in the rapper's life. "The film studio and producers involved were more concerned about painting me as a 'character' to create a more interesting story line instead of a person with talent, self-respect and who was able to achieve her own career success through hard work," she said in an interview.

@John-I feel your pain...HOWEVER, look up instead of down. Welfare is less than 1% of our annual budget. It hardly compares to the amount of money spent in corporate welfare. THAT'S where the lion's share of waste is focused.

It seems like you people would be more upset with people like GW. Bush, Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney, and Scooter Libby all lying about WMD to get us into a conflict with Iraq. Families have lost loved ones behind those monumental lies.

Why are you worried about a washed up rapper who in no way can affect your lifestyle?

IF I OWED A MILLION DOLLARS IN TAXES SINCE 2004 AND DIDN'T PAY I WOULD BE IN JAIL. I WORKED FOR CASH ONCE AND DIDN'T FILE I FIGURED I WAS OWED THIS I WAS TIRED OF PAYING TAXES AND HAVING MY HARD EARNED MONEY GOING TO LAZY SLOBS AND ILLEGAL ALIENS. THIS WAS AT A TIME WHEN MY WIFE WAS PREGANT AND I BELONGED TO THE CARPENTERS UNION, WELL I GOT LAYED OFF AND LOST MY BENEFITS, SO WE APPLIED FOR MEDI-CAL IN CALIFORNIA, SO MY WIFE COULD GET PRENATAL CARE, THATS ALL WE APPLIED FOR AND WE WERE TOLD I MADE TOO MUCH MONEY LAST YEAR AND TURNED DOWN. THIS PROGRAM WAS SET UP FOR PEOPLE IN OUR SITUATION, FOR TEMPORARY RELIEF NOT FOR PEOPLE TO SPEND A LIFETIME RECIEVING, WELL THE IRS CAUGHT ME AND AFTER TAXES INTEREST AND PENALTIES THEY SAID I OWED THEM A LITTLE OVER $10,OOO, BY THIS TIME I WAS BACK TO WORK FULL TIME AND MY CHILD WAS BORN, THE IRS SAID IF I DIDN'T PAY THEY WOULD GARNISH 75% OF MY PAY I WORKED OUT A PAYMENT PLAN, IT TOOK ME 5 YEARS TO PAY THE TAXES, ALL BECAUSE I TOOK DESPERATE MEASURES TO PAY THE MEDICAL COSTS FOR THE BIRTH OF MY CHILD. I SAY TAKE EVERYTHING LIL DUMBASS HAS AND THROW HER IN JAIL !!!! BUT THIS WON'T HAPPEN BECAUSE SHE IS RICH AND FAMOUS SHE WILL BE ALOUD TO SETTLE FOR LESS THAN 10% OF WHAT SHE OWES. I GET SO ANGRY WHEN I STAND IN LINE AT THE GROCERY STORE AND SEE TWO ABLE BODIED PEOPLE WITH CHILDREN GETTING FREE FOOD AT THE EXPENSE OF HARD WORKING AMERICANS, THE SADDEST THING IS ALOT OF THESE PEOPLE ON WELFARE ARE 2ND AND 3RD GENERATION RECIPIANTS. NEEDLESS TO SAY I PAY MY TAXES NO MATTER WHAT I EVEN PAY EXTRA TO MAKE SURE I NEVER OWE, WHILE THE LAZY SLOBS AND ILLEGAL ALIENS PAY NOTHING.

Help me understand..I powe $800 bucks to the IRS and they are on my case every month till I pay it back. How the hell does the IRS allow anyone to get a million in the hole.Who is asleep at their desk in that Department.Or is this all a Racial thing.

I see so many like her in deep with the IRS and its just so insane to me.Just look at all the Holloywood slugs who did what she did and they get a pass and all sorts 0f breaks to pay up.

I was never so glad to get anyone off my back as I was with the IRS and my owing them $800 dollars.

So what's the big deal? If you are a star, politician, pop star, whatever. You just forgot to pay. You are forgiven because you are in the news and/or public.

"Dancing With The Stars" should be a little more discriminating about who they pick for their show. Then again, you know that the people who run the show are 99% Democrats and not paying taxes is pretty common all the way up the ladder. No wonder they don't care if taxes are raised.
