Tyrese Weighs In on Chris Brown Assault

Singer/actor Tyrese Gibson is providing a new perspective on Chris Brown's recent legal issues. Gibson, who is friends with the 19-year-old singer, says that despite his public persona he is trying to get over the alleged altercation with girlfriend Rihanna.

"Although he appears to be really strong through all of this, it's really taking a toll on his spirit," Gibson said in an interview. "People like me and Puff, we're just trying to show him love and keep his spirits up while he's going through all of the heat, and there are a lot people doing the same for Rihanna." Gibson went on to say that Brown has been having trouble separating work from his personal life. "It's really hard for him to focus right now on his music, even though he really wants to."

Gibson has also had his share of public relationship problems. His ex-wife of 10-months, Norma Mitchell, accused Gibson of being a deadbeat dad and petitioned his original divorce declaration. She stated that the actor/singer made upwards of $800,000 dollars during their marriage, and she felt it "unreasonable" that she receive no financial support despite their short marriage. She was later awarded $65,000, plus $2,730 for rent and $800 for her monthly car payment. Gibson will also pay over $6,000 a month in child support for the couple's infant daughter until she is 18. Prior to their courtship, Gibson was brought in for questioning after allegedly hitting Mitchell while she was pregnant with their daughter.

"At the end of the day, I'm not trying to justify it because wrong is wrong, but unfortunately, us as entertainers, we have to grow up on stage with a lot of people looking at us. And a lot of people forget that he's 19, she's only 21," Gibson finished.

Brown made headlines on February 8 after an alleged fight with Rihanna left the pop star bloodied and bruised. According to reports, Brown punched her several time while driving his rented Lamborghini in Hancock Park, a suburb of Los Angeles. The two have since become the center of media frenzy and reconciled shortly after their fight. While Rihanna initially went into hiding, both she and Brown re-emerged in Miami and Los Angeles, spending time together leading up to Brown's hearing last month.

The Virginia native was charged with two felonies including making criminal threats and assault. Earlier today his lawyer Marc Geragos, attended a closed hearing on Brown's behalf. Although public information regarding the hearing has not been released, Brown was not required to attend even though it is about the case.

TMZ reported that the hearing is regarding whether or not Rihanna will testify against Brown. Lawyers for both sides have stated that the 21-year-old should not be called to the stand because her privacy as a victim has been jeopardized due to the popularity of the case.

Chris is an IDIOT--all the apologists for him need to wake up--this isn't the schoolyard or the ghetto-it's NEVER COOL TO PUNCH WOMEN IN THE FACE-I don't care WHO you think you are--or what your'boys'have to say---the jails are FULL of dumbass motherfuckers who hit people instead of walking away--and I used to think Chris was alright--but now he's JUST ANOTHER FELON.
Good luck getting WORK, you chump--NOW you're untouchable--and your endorsements are at an END.

I think the even though Chris Brown is young he still should know better than to assault a woman or anyone. If they had issues he could've easily just walked away or took her home. I realize they are young but especially being in the spotlight those two are be role models for younger kids. With big success also comes big responsibility. He should have to pay the fines or at least do community projects to make him realize how wrong that was.

People do forget this is a 19 yesr old young man. He made a mistake. He is not the first and will certainly not be the last. No, you should never resort to violence in any situation. And yes he was wrong but I am more than sure he realizes that. He is being persucuted more than the murders and child molestors. People need to stop throwing stones at glass houses. If Rhiana can forgive him, the rest of the world should too. Also to double mint. Your product is not all that. I for one will NEVER purchase your product again. There are more people who are doing far worse things and still keeping their endorsments (Michael Phillips).

Regardless if she hit him first, he had no business hitting her like he did. Especially after what he grew up with, watching his mom being beat all the time. She had no right to hit him no matter what, but a man should never hit a woman NO MATTER WHAT! I liked them both before this, but now, if they were to come out with a new cd or tour, I would not pay a dime to buy it. Being in the spotlight and such role models for the kids, what kind of message do you think this is sending to them? That its ok to put up with being hit (man or woman). I too grew up watching my mom being beat and raped and I will NEVER tolerate a man laying his hand on me, nor could I do the same to a man! And trust me, I have wanted to and come close a few times with my husband but I think about how it made my mom feel being beat, the damage it did to her not just physically but emotionally, and the damage it did to me as well. My siblings were way too young and really didn't know what was going on. Tyrese said Chris is 19 and shes ONLY 21....AND?? Whats the point here? Yeah Chris and Rhiannna are young but age has nothing to do with this. They were both in the wrong for laying hands on eachother but two wrongs don't make it right.
