Gunfire Erupts at E-40 Concert, One Man Killed

A shooting took place following Bay Area rapper E-40's concert Thursday in Colorado Springs, CO. The concert, which took place at Mr. Big's Family Fun Center, was policed by authorities in charge of crowd control.

"The crowd was significantly larger than the number of officers," said Colorado Springs police spokesman Sgt. Darrin Abbink, who stated that police were trying to prevent a violent outcome similar to the one that occurred a few months ago. "They reacted as quickly as they could."

Following the performance police heard gunshots near the venue's parking lot. There they found an unnamed victim dead in a silver sedan. Officers attempted to resuscitate the victim but were unsuccessful. Although his identity has not been released the victim was described as being in his late 20s.

Police later arrested 22-year-old Terry Gaines Jr. under suspicion of first-degree murder but have yet to uncover a motive. Gaines fled the scene in his car and lead police on a chase down a local interstate before being apprehended.

This recent act of violence comes on the heels of another shooting that took place following the rapper's concert in nearby Denver. Last December five people were wounded after leaving an E-40 concert at Club Vinyl. While the rapper insisted he had no ties to the incident he did release a statement showing his concern. "E-40 and [his] management want to state unequivocally that E-40 and his camp were uninvolved in the unfortunate incident at Club Vinyl in Denver on Dec. 27, 2008," the statement read. "Neither E-40 nor anyone traveling with him was in the venue at the time. In fact, E-40 had concluded his performance and [had] been back in the hotel room."

Known as the "ambassador" of the Bay Area, the Vallejo, California native gained popularity for his unique rap style. He is currently on tour promoting his latest release "Ball Street Journal."

I don't propose hate to all blacks, only the bad ones......I served with many people of many colors and many served bravely and with honors.........In the way that you discount my comment, you slap the face of what we fight for.....FREEDOM! The freedom of all us to feel and say what we think do. I only dislike those who deserve dislike in MY view! I think that anyone who supports this foul mouthed, violent culture that RAP has brought up is a bottom feeder. These types that propogate violence and glorify it in there rap lyrics are just as bad as the people I saw in many parts of the world. Drop these guys off in Somolia!
And if you haven't noticed, there will always be racism and religious wars.......till Jesus returns! I love everyone! Until they rub me wrong. I commend your son's service to our great country and remember what makes it great is that I can say what I want and you can cream me for it! No problem!

Being a 'G' is part of growing up in the hood. 'G's are looked up to and the younger set thinks that being a 'G' is all cool, dope, fly, romantic and stuff. They have no idea of the reality of death just around the corner at any time.

Wow this is a shame. The murder yes but the comments left even more. It is funny how people just cant turn the mirror on themselves. Lets keep in mind that in the past week as i turn on my telivision i see a white man in Washington that killed himself after shooting and killing his 5 children, a Chinese man that killed 13 before killing himself in New York, a white man in Pittsburgh killing three officers, and an elderly white woman that has robbed 3 southern california banks.

I dont see these murders as white on white, asian on asian, or even citezen on "pigs" (which i have not heared since 92). I see this as pure hate and evil which has no color nor region. Hate is hate no matter who it comes from.

Scrolling down these comments i see nothing but HATE and ignorance excluding on comment of prayer to the families of the victim. So this being said, i pose a question."Is white on black hate more accepted than black on black?"

I have family in Colorado Springs and am originally from the bay area (home of E-40). I am currently living a successful life in Los Angeles educated and employed at 24 years of age which is not rare contrary to popular belief. I laugh at these comments knowing how many of you have young family i see in night clubs reciting hip hop songs word for word with a drink in hand. If you dont allow hip hop in your house i'm pretty sure your children are exposed and are a fan of it.

On a final note before i head to WORK, Hip Hop is not from the prisons or thugs. Hip Hop comes from the people expressing life. One of the first Hip Hop records ever by Surgar Hill Gang "Rappers Delight" is known by whites all over. By the way, none of the members of this group were in prison. There is good hip hop and there is bad hip hop and funny enough, the lyrics the young people in your family love are the "bad" ones. Lets get it together people and take a good look at ourselves and our people and realize its not a black thing,a white thing, a poor thing or a rich thing. It's a human thing, and the sooner we realize that the sooner we can get rid of this senseless madness.

Your comment really is a little ridiculous.... Biker Gangs? The last time I checked they didn't sell tickets and then sing lyrics about "Hos" "killing" Bitches and pigs. Of course these lyrics are pretty tame for nowadays. Gee I feel so sorry for the picked on minorities. You know there is a reason for racial profiling.......
