A shooting took place following Bay Area rapper E-40's concert Thursday in Colorado Springs, CO. The concert, which took place at Mr. Big's Family Fun Center, was policed by authorities in charge of crowd control. "The crowd was significantly larger than the number of officers," said Colorado Springs police spokesman Sgt. Darrin Abbink, who stated that police were trying to prevent a violent outcome similar to the one that occurred a few months ago. "They reacted as quickly as they could."
Following the performance police heard gunshots near the venue's parking lot. There they found an unnamed victim dead in a silver sedan. Officers attempted to resuscitate the victim but were unsuccessful. Although his identity has not been released the victim was described as being in his late 20s.
Police later arrested 22-year-old Terry Gaines Jr. under suspicion of first-degree murder but have yet to uncover a motive. Gaines fled the scene in his car and lead police on a chase down a local interstate before being apprehended.
This recent act of violence comes on the heels of another shooting that took place following the rapper's concert in nearby Denver. Last December five people were wounded after leaving an E-40 concert at Club Vinyl. While the rapper insisted he had no ties to the incident he did release a statement showing his concern. "E-40 and [his] management want to state unequivocally that E-40 and his camp were uninvolved in the unfortunate incident at Club Vinyl in Denver on Dec. 27, 2008," the statement read. "Neither E-40 nor anyone traveling with him was in the venue at the time. In fact, E-40 had concluded his performance and [had] been back in the hotel room."
Known as the "ambassador" of the Bay Area, the Vallejo, California native gained popularity for his unique rap style. He is currently on tour promoting his latest release "Ball Street Journal."

What a shame. It's such a loss when thugs kill each other.

notice the comment "the number of officers was quite a bit less than those attending." Duh...you should only have to have a handful of security in a normal crowd, you don't have to guard people one-on-one for the price of those tickets!

ALL I CAN SAY IS KEEP IT GANGSTA!!! It's like if a fish could carry a bucket, and they wanted to get out of the contaminated river so they jumped out but they scooped up a bucket of the contaminated water and took it with them, moved to an area where there was a beautiful bubbling brook of clean water, plopped the bucket down and hopped into the bucket, DUH! or did you get that?? To break free of a community where drugs and violence are so common place, you have to lay on the floor to keep from getting shot and yet they bring that life with them. Their drugs, their violence, their disrespect for both people, property and life. Sad, really sad.

why is it that so many rappers I read about in the news that are being charged with a crime, shot at, or shooting at their shows, I've never even heard of?
