After a seven-year legal battle, rapper C-Murder has launched a Web site to help fund his defense for his upcoming murder re-trial. The site, CoreyMillerInnocenceFund.com, entreats "Friends, family, associates, peers and supporters... to donate one thousand dollars each to pay for needed attorney fees. I'm certain the monies raised will more likely guarantee a victorious outcome. If you're capable to donate more, your generosity is welcomed and appreciated."
C-Murder, whose real name is Corey Miller, is accused of beating and shooting to death a 16-year-old fan, Steve Thomas, in a New Orleans nightclub in 2002. Though convicted and sentenced to life in prison in 2003, Miller was granted a re-trial when it came to light that the prosecution expunged the criminal records of some of the trial's key witnesses in exchange for testimony against the former No Limit Soldier.
Miller has been on house arrest since posting $500,000 bond in 2006, but was arrested again last week for leaving his house for 10 minutes without permission, a violation of the terms of his house arrest. His bond was raised from $500,000 to $1 million, forcing Miller to raise $700,000 from friends and family members last week, none of whom were brother Percy "Master P" Miller or Lil Romeo."
Should Miller be convicted, he once again, faces a mandatory life sentence.
