Bow Wow Retires From Music Biz, Will Focus on Acting Career

Rapper Bow Wow has decided to hang up the mic at the tender age of 22. Just two weeks after the unremarkable sales of his latest album, 'New Jack City II,' Bow said that it's time to make his exit from the music game.

"This is my last album because for me, there's no more that needs to be done on the music side, I've done everything," he said in a recent interview. "The scary thing is I'm 22-years-old and I'm young. I'm still a baby, so it's [kind of] like on the music side, I've been doing it since five. That's 17 years of non-stop music."

'New Jack City Part II' clocked 30,900 units in its first week debuting at No. 16 on the Billboard charts. The sales were far behind those of other recent hip-hop and R&B releases by artists like Jim Jones and singer-songwriter Keri Hilson.

Bow has however been hinting at a retirement for a few years. In 2006 he said he would retire before the release of his fifth album. Last year he said in an interview that he would call it quits following the release of his eighth album. With just seven albums in, Bow says that's he's achieved his musical goals. "There's nothing more to accomplish. I feel like now it's time to endure a new challenge...close the chapter on the Bow Wow legacy. As far as albums, I'm good. Seven albums at 22, that's crazy."

With a health helping of music accolades under his belt, the Ohio native plans to put more energy into his budding acting career. "I'm just so excited about focusing on that aspect of my career."

Bow has previously been featured on HBO's 'Entourage,' while on the big screen he has appeared in 'The Fast and the Furious, Tokyo Drift' and 'Roll Bounce.'
