Lil Wayne Loses Documentary Battle

It looks like the documentary chronicling the life of rapper Lil Wayne will in fact see the light of day. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael S. Mink threw out Wayne's notion to block the release of the documentary, which he deems as controversial.

Wayne filed a lawsuit against QD3 Entertainment, which is owned by Quincy Jones III, the son of the famed producer and namesake. The basis of the suit stemmed from the New Orleans born rapper's claim that the company would not show him the final cut of the film, as previously agreed. Wayne reportedly had issues with certain scenes sensationalizing his drug use. After an early review of the documentary in December, Wayne's management requested that certain scenes be removed.

Following a second viewing at the Sundance Film Festival, management noticed that the scenes were still in the film, sparking legal action, but to no avail. "We're very pleased with the court's decision," Jones III said. "We made a great film, which was incredibly well received at Sundance, and showcases Lil Wayne's extraordinary talent." Wayne has yet to release a statement regarding the matter.

Following in his father's footsteps, Jones III has worked in the entertainment industry for over 20 years. He was raised in Stockholm Sweden before moving back to the states as a teenager.Through his company QD3 Entertainment, he has produced both documentaries and music working on recordings for artists like Ice Cube and Tupac Shakur.
