Although their long promised debut LP hasn't been released, Chicago hip-hop duo The Cool Kids have released a 21 track mixtape today entitled 'Gone Fishin,' with eighteen of the tracks being new. Word of warning: it's not as easy as a simple right click. Head over to Coolxkids.com, and you'll be directed to a megaupload site, requiring you to figure out a code to punch in. Once you've done your duty as a mission impossible style safe-cracker, you'll get the download link but, also, you'll have to be able to work with zip files. If none of this makes sense, they're promising a limited physical release sometime soon.
But once all that is sorted out, you'll notice that Mikey and Chuck roped a few top names to help them out. Don Cannon of Gangsta Grillz fame helped out with production, and heavy hitters Ludacris and Bun B lend their talents to a remix of 'Pennies.' R&B singer Ryan Leslie also pipes in on "Weekend Girls."
That said, there's something literally in the water with The Cool Kids these days. While this is mix is called 'Gone Fishin," we also know that that forthcoming LP is entitled 'When Fish Ride Bicycles.' We'd say something about the young rappers being 'bottom feeders,' but maybe that's too easy.
