'Transformers' actor Shia LaBeouf has directed the first video for indie rapper Cage's upcoming release 'Depart From Me.'The star actor has been a longtime fan of the upstate New York MC, who hit the scene with his 'Clockwork Orange' sampling single 'Agent Orange,' in 1997, then faded into relative obscurity after a brief spat with an up-and-comer named Eminem.
As Cage's work became more rock influenced, he caught LaBeouf's ear. The actor decided to document Cage's 2005 tour, in hopes that he might interest a studio with the footage, and develop a film about Cage's life.
Though nothing appears to have happened on that front, LaBeouf makes his directorial debut with the video for 'I Never Knew You,' a video about "obsession and heartbreak," according to Cage.
"I'm 22 and I'm directing my favorite rapper's music video," LaBeouf told the LA Weekly. "This s--- is better than riding unicorns."
Check out behind-the-scenes footage here. The video premieres on May 18th on MTV2. 'Depart From Me' is scheduled for release on July 7.
