Chris Brown Talks New Album, Says He's 'Not A Monster'

R&B singer Chris Brown spoke out publicly for the first time, in a longtime, to let fans and "haters" know how he's doing. The 20-year-old took to Bow Wow's video blog to briefly set the record straight on what's he's been up to.

"I just wanted to say 'what's up,'" he said. "New album's [going] to be coming soon. We're working on it right now. It's going to be called 'Graffiti.'" Brown went on to say that the album's first single will come out sometime this summer and that he has no plans of leaving the music industry.

"All my real fans, I love ya'll. I ain't a monster," he said alluding to his alleged altercation with ex-girlfriend Rihanna. Since news of the incident broke in February, Brown has taken a decidedly different approach than the Barbadian beauty. Although the two initially reconciled, they have not been seen together in several months.

Brown was spotted at a women's college basketball game in his home state a few months back, and more recently he's been seen hanging court side with Usher and Bow Wow at Game 3 and 4 of the NBA Eastern Conference basketball finals. Pictures from the game showed Brown with a black eye, which he also addressed. "All the blog sites, you guys are liars! No black eye," he said pointing to the eye in question.

Rihanna, on the other hand, has been jet setting and club hopping from Los Angeles to New York to Barbados. Last week the pop star was seen getting cozy with rapper Drake at a New York bowling alley. Drake later denied rumors of a possible romance. "[She's] just a friend, that's all," he said in an interview. "I have the most respect for her. I think she's so talented."

The Grammy winning songstress also attended an event, put on by her label Island Def Jam, commemorating her 12 million records sold since her 2005 debut. The 21-year-old was also snapped coming out of label-mate and friend Kanye West's New York apartment after a quick wardrobe change. She is is believed to be back in Los Angeles and is also working on a new album.

Brown pleaded not guilty to felony assault and making criminal threats charges. A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for May 28. If convicted he faces up to four years in prison.
