Rihanna will likely take a stand this summer, but it won't be on a concert stage. The 21-year-old will be called to testify against former boyfriend, Chris Brown, next month at his assault hearing.
The pop star's attorney, David Etra, attended a hearing Thursday morning confirming the news. "The DA has advised me that she will be subpoenaed [to testify]," he said. "She absolutely will comply." It was also confirmed that the pair will have to face each other in court. "He has to be here anytime a witness is called," Geragos said confirming Brown's attendance.
Today's hearing did not run very smoothly for the defense. Geragos was denied access to police records in an attempt to find out who leaked photos of a battered and bruised Rihanna to the media. According to Geragos, the photos were carelessly released by authorities and would therefore taint potential jurors, thus decreasing Brown's chances of receiving a fair and unbiased trial.
L.A. Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg stated that granting Geragos access to the records would not "significantly impact" Brown's right to a fair trial. "It matters to me not if your client is high-profile or not," she said. "I don't believe you're entitled [to demand access to police records]."
Brown, who has been keeping a low profile following the February 8 alleged assault, did not attend the hearing. He has entered a plea of not guilty to the two felony charges stemming from the incident. Yesterday, video of the 20-year-old appearing on rapper and friend Bow Wow's video blog hit the net. The singer proclaimed that he was not "a monster" before signing off.
Both Brown and Rihanna are scheduled to appear in court on June 22, if convicted he faces up to four years in prison.

I sit back and i listen and see all the comments being posted about chris brown and it disheartens me because we know of people all around us getting beat and i mean beat by men all the time and men that gets beat by women and we dont say not one thing about it, but when a celeb does something were quick to bash him just because he a celeb, remember this boy is young and at his age he is required to make mistakes thats what life is all about making decisions and wheather they good or bad decisions and then learning from them. He mad a bad one so all we can do is pray that he learned from it an moved on. No one knows what happened in that car i mean he pleaded guilty so im sure something happened on her part to, to make him do that, i love chris and will always support him and yes i am a woman and have been abused by a man in my past and im no longer with him but i cant use my own situation to past judgement on him cause its not the same. He hit this woman yes, and it was wrong cause he should have walked away but sometimes its not that easy to do as we think and we will see that if were every in that situation. (no one knows what she was doing to aggervate or hitting him to make him do what he did). Im sure when we were all in school or anywhere an we had someone that just didnt know how to shut up and was really pushing our buttons and getting under our skin and you just couldnt take nomore and you went off and beat the h**l out of them, Sometimes walking away its easy as we think, and its easier said then done. And it was said in the magazines and on the net that she was jelous of him and that she always hits him and he never do anthing, so how do we know if that wasnt true and he maybe got tired and went off on her, he just lost it cause people do get fed up please believe. And if someone hits me or beat me with a stiletto of course ima going to go off and attack them, do you know how it feels to get hit with a stiletto? It hurts, and even more she could have really hurt him with that stiletto what if she had hit that boy in his temple come one people, if you going to pass judgement do it on them both they both were in the wrong, but i still support you chris and no you arent a monster or a woman beater you got in to one situation with putting your hands on a woman and now people want to label you, forget them who are they to judge you only God can do that, and they make mistakes to all the time that they want to be forgiven for and then they got the nerve to judge you.
