Jay-Z to Release 'Blueprint 3' on September 11

Jay-Z's highly anticipated 11th studio album has finally been granted a release date. The hip-hop icon's forthcoming album is set to drop on September 11, eight years to the day after the release of the first 'Blueprint' album. Jay's first 'Blueprint' offering was released on the memorable and horrific day hijacked planes flew into the Twin Towers.

While the rapper himself has yet to confirm the Sept. 11 release date, a formal announcement is expected Sunday on New York radio station Hot 97 and at the station's annual Summer Jam concert at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Not only is the album's possible release date a topic of discussion, but the project's home is still up for grabs. Reports suggest 'Blueprint 3' will be released through Jay's Roc Nation label with distribution through Atlantic Records. However, Sony, through Epic, were rumored to be Roc Nation's new home.

Either way, it looks like Hova fans are one step closer to the third installment of the rapper-turned-entertainment mogul's trinity. The first installment of the trilogy introduced the world to a little known Chicago-bred producer by the name of Kanye West and put Just Blaze on the map.

The rap star announced B3 during the New York stop on West's 2008 'Glow in the Dark' tour and gave fans a preview when he performed 'Jockin' Jay-Z' for the Madison Square Garden crowd. 'Swagga Like Us,' which the rapper performed, alongside T.I., Lil Wayne, M.I.A. and Kanye West, at the Grammys in February was also rumored to be a B3 track. The track is featured in T.I.'s 2008 album, 'Paper Trail.'
