Apparently, singer Kelly Rowland's biological clock is ticking. In an interview with the London Paper, the 28-year-old revealed that she's tired of waiting for Mr. Right and is ready to build a family via adoption."I've always known I would adopt in a heartbeat but I don't want a baby. I want to get a child that's five, six, or even 10," the former Destiny's Child member said in an interview.
Rowland went on to explain why she'd like to provide a home for an older child rather than an infant and credits her previous charity work. "I was doing Home for Holidays which is a charitable holiday program for kids in the States, and some of the statistics means that older children don't get adopted as much. I'd love to make a child feel that they're worth it because every child is worth it."
The singer also revealed that she may go the Angelina Jolie route and adopt more than one child. "I don't want that many children, but I want a family of five, including adopted children. That's still a lot, but I think it would be worth it."
In other news, Rowland is currently the co-host of the Bravo TV reality show The Fashion Show and is working on her third album.

Hi Susieat 6-20-2009
I think it's wonderful that she would like to be a Mom to an older child. This article put a smile on my face today!

A LOT of people think about it. MOST people don't have the thousands of dollars it costs to adopt children.
Jasmineat 6-20-2009
Unless you adopt from a foreign country, it won't cost you thousands of dollars. You can adopt locally.

Jasmine, my brother adopted and it cost him almost $20,000. Yes, it was worth it, but adoption is costly. My newest nephew's birth Mom was losing custody of her child to the State, she met my brother and felt he'd make the perfect parent for her son, so she asked him to adopt him. It was a typical adoption, nothing real unique about it.

Way to go. But I hope she adopts them all in America. It pisses me off when all these famous gurus adopt oversees. Your own country should come first.

I agree with you . There are lots of children here who need homes

Your an idiot, just because they're in the same country as you doesnt make them more deserving of being adopted. All children need the chance to have a better life and be loved, regaurdless of what country they're from.

It totally pisses me off when I read such ignorant comments from people like YOU. Both my children are adoped foreign-born, one from China and one from Russia. How many have YOU personally adopted? Every child is deserving of a home! There are many reasons why people dont adopt domestically and its way too complicated to go on about it in a short forum. So unless YOU personally have first-hand knowledge about foreign or domestic adoption....shut-up.

You can't even spell 'overseas.' When you learn to spell, you get an opinion.

Wow, she should be commended. She is a very selfless person to take a child that has already been through their formative years. If they were abused or neglected they would have a lot of baggage. But I believe with a lot of love & patience, it's possible. Where's all those big mouth 'stars'?? Their state is crumbling around them but they can't have one lousy fundraiser for this country...guess they're abroad...

Miss Rowland is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside to consdier adopting an older child! Please don't sit on the thought too long dear, after today there will be hundreds of thousands of children hoping they will be the one you choose. And I Pray when your circle of friends and constituants see how happy and Blessed you are with your new child, they will follow suit. God Bless you in all you do, you wonderful, nice lady!

Grace, I understand why people adopt from other countries, but I do agree with you. We have way too many children in the system who need a loving home.
