Lil Wayne Appears in Court for Weapons, Drug Charges

Lil Wayne was in Yuma, Arizona on Tuesday (June 23), attending a pre-trial update for a January 2008 arrest in the surrounding area.

The multi-platinum rapper who has a serious history of legal troubles, was arrested along with two members of his entourage at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint just east of Yuma. A search of his tour bus turned up cocaine, ecstasy and a handgun.

Weezy was ordered to appear at a preliminary hearing for the investigation into the drug & weapons charges, after pleading not guilty to possession of dangerous drugs, drug paraphernalia and weapons misconduct.

During the hearing on Tuesday, Wayne's attorney James Tilson, contended that the Border Patrol has failed to honor a request he made months ago for the arrest records tied to the case.

Tilson claimed that the Border Patrol officials told him that they had no intention of releasing the training records of the drug-sniffing dog used in the search and seizure.

"If the dog is not reliable," Tilson said, "then that puts the entire probable cause for the stop in question."

Tilson stated that he will submit a new request for the video footage taken by border cameras on the day in question, hoping that they will shed some light on the case, and prove that the Border Patrol did not have sufficient probable cause to search the tour bus.

Wayne's next scheduled appearance in court is August 11.

u think wit all that money and fame that those guys would fly right but they dont seem too care bout anything but tryn too be hard and gangster its time out for that now im not judgeing just a comment
