yup, i tried to listen it a few times. i even did as allaboutsamantha suggested and played it while i was completing a task. i still don't like more than 2 songs. too bad. i cancelled my order at amazon.com cause i won't be listening to it anymore. hope the next one is better. i'll at least have his previous albums, all of which were and still are awesome!

Thank you for telling it how it REALLY is! My husband and I are true Maxwell fans from the very beginning and we are so disappointed in this album. His voice sounds nasally (like he had a cold when he was in the studio), the lyrics stink, and the music is nowhere reminiscent of his signature style! Pretty Wings was as good as this album got. Everything else sounds like every other wack R&B song out there! What happened to Maxwell and what mind-altering drug is everybody else on that makes them think that this album is so great?!?! I thought I was in the twilight zone reading all the critic and fan reviews...until you group of REAL Maxwell fans spoke the truth. I say we stage an intervention to bring our Maxwell back.

I was highly disappointed with this album. I was late going in to work because I have missed and waited so long on Maxwell and this is what I get. Don't get me wrong, I love Maxwell and love his voice but this did nothing for me. Maybe Maxwell and I have grown in different directions but this CD did nothing for me and it ONLY had 9 songs. Are you kidding me?!!!! I am just a little disappointed right now, but I am still a Maxwell fan and he can sing to me any day. :)

of course bad habits and pretty wings have me swooning. wasn't impressed at first listen with the rest. but 3 plays in and now im HOOKED. play it while youre completing a task. you will be replaying all night:) LOVE YOU MAXWELL!!!

Well I honestly am not feeling this album like his other work. It's pretty damn depressing. All about the lows of love instead of the highs. Black as title is very appropriate. But I suppose Summer will be better. After all the last track is called Phoenix Rise so the next one should find him headed skyward.

All that being said, it is still some REAL music which is kinda rare these days so he still has my support even if I won't be bumping this album real hard.

i 2 am a huge max fan. but other than pretty wings and badhabits, i'm sorry 2 say, something is lacking... i will still buy the cd and await the rest, but i'm wit'cha... hope the best is yet 2 cum... :op
