Wyclef to Replace Lauryn Hill at Montreux Jazz Festival

Multiplatinum rapper/singer Wyclef Jean has reportedly been chosen to replace former Fugee Lauryn Hill at the Montreux Jazz Festival in July, after Hill canceled her entire European tour due to "health concerns."

Wyclef will only be replacing his former groupmate at Montreux, though Hill had dates in Sweden, Greece, Holland, Austria, Poland and Italy.

Organizers for the legendary event noted that Clef's appearance on July 11 at the Stravinski Auditorium in Geneva, Switzerland will be his only European performance for the summer.

"Wyclef has broken down the barriers of hip-hop and infused his music with the sounds of reggae, rock and folk," the organizers of the jazz festival said. "His new album, which features Akon and T.I., is set for release this autumn and we can expect many of the songs to be debuted on July 11th. He and his group are traveling specially from the United States for what will be his only European date this summer, after having refused several other offers from various festivals."

The festival runs from July 3-18, along Lake Geneva, and features over 1,000 musicians from the Black Eyed Peas and Chaka Khan to Herbie Hancock, BB King and Steely Dan.

Pray for Lauryn Hill. Who else embodies the true Spirit of Hip-Hop, Soul, Gospel, Reggae, Intellect and Wisdom all in one. ...To whom much is given, much is required (Luke 12:48). She is contending with some serious demons right now. The music industry is a nasty and corrupt game right now and there are many who want her silenced. She has an anoiting on her that allows her to speak truth to power. She shall overcome and when she does many captive shall be set free.

What's wrong with her? Every since she got married and had all of those kids, she's not been the same. It's like she's being controlled. A true talent lost.
