90's rapper Coolio caught a lucky break this week, avoiding jail time for his recent crack possession and battery charges. The California entertainer, famous for living in a 'Gangsta's Paradise,' faced three years in prison if found guilty on the charges, stemming from a March 6 bust at LAX, where officials found crack cocaine and smoking paraphernalia in the rapper's luggage.
Coolio attempted to avoid the search and seizure by physically fighting off authorities at the airport, tacking a misdemeanor battery charge on top of his felony possession.
Thankfully, Coolio will be instead be entering an 18-month drug rehab program, after pleading guilty to felony possession of cocaine. The other charges were dropped, and Coolio will be eligible for a dismissal once he has successfully completed the 18-month rehab stint.
Coolio is having an interesting year thus far, earlier in the year he caused a stir as a guest on UK TV program "Celebrity Big Brother," and most recently he was spotted receiving a "crotch rub" by an Italian model at a fashion party in Milan. Pauly Shore, looks like he's taking your lane.

All the fame and money in the world and some of these celebs can't stay out of trouble or stay out of jail... I'm not surprised. If it's not him it will be another celeb up there. They love the drugs unfortunately.

I don't mind him getting off without jail time in this case. He is doing something that hurts himself, not really society so much. He is selling it or killing anyone for it. I think he deserves a chance to change his life. Look at Robert Downey Jr., he was given several chances before actually doing jail time. My problem is with all these athletes killing others in car crashes and serving a few months.

Whoops, Should say NOT selling or killing anyone.

LMAO!! I lost all respect for this guy after he b*tched about Weird Al's parody. Al parodied everybody, wasn't like he singled him out. For his sake, hope he cleans up his act. Not a fan of his stuff, but coke is a nasty monkey to have on your back.

Lol you are right. It's all a conspiracy against the "struggling" black man. (Note my sarcasm)
katsangel55at 7-01-2009
This has nothing to do about a conspiracy, it has to do with a man on drugs stupid enough to go to an airport with them. BE FOR REAL!!

He's just another doper out to influence other people to become dopers too. Have you ever gone to a lyrics site and read what these animals put in their songs? It is totally disgusting. Beyond vulgar. The minds that dream this stuff up have to be on drugs because if their poor mothers ever heard them say that stuff they would simply drop dead in their tracks. Rap should be outlawed and chased back to the prehistoric ages, because only mindless cavemen with no thought of what impression they are making on the young would even remotely think that those lyrics could begin to resemble anything like music. Rap is cr@p! Period.

dude you are a total clown. The garbsge on the radio is all you know. The basis of hip hop has always been philisophical expression in artistic manners. The crap on the radio is no different than the rock music out there. What about Nickelback? "got a drug dealer on speed dial"..."the drugs come easy and the girls come cheap..." You, sir, need to pay more attention. Rap is not the problem. Mainstream media and big corporate radio is the problem. Do your research, and you will find that they don't even write their own lyrics 90% of the time. They are tools of the industry, just like you.

So we still have two judicial systems - on for the poor and unknown, and the other for the wealthy and famous. What a mockery of this system. I knew one African -American who got ten years for a $20 rock, his third strike. Coolio resists arrest and still gets only Re-hap. Seems something is happening behind the scenes that we don't hear about.
Let's get back to one judicial system with uniform laws not compromises.
