Things keep getting uglier between soon-to-be-divorced hip hop pair Nas and Kelis. Last month, the disgruntled singer filed financial records in an effort to gain custody of her baby from the Queens rapper, Nas. Kelis claimed to be making $20,000 a month, but spending over $80,000.
"I have run out of money," she was quoted as saying, arguing that her ex be required to help her maintain the lifestye she enjoyed during their marriage; five homes, first class flights etc.
Kelis also alleged that Nas made $11 Million on his most recent album, but Nas has begun to fight back against her claims.
"I did not receive even half that amount," Nas said in a prepared statement, claiming he received $4 Million for the album, and only currently makes $147,165 per month, while spending $70,000, including as much as $10,000 monthly on clothing and hair.
Nas hopes to be "fully involved" with his baby, claiming he's already agreed to pay for strollers, cribs and a baby sling, and arguing that $5,000 a month in child support is more than enough for a newborn.
For some reason, learning about rapper's finances is always slightly depressing. Either way, that baby is recession proof.

Wow...talk about greedy...she can't live on 20K a month? Wants to be maintained in the same manner as when they were married? That mean he gets conjugal visits...you know, like he got when they were married? He should take care of his kid, he is the father after all, other than that he doesn't owe her a thing.

I have 4 children and I only receive a little over $500.00 a month in child support. I could easily survive on that kind of child support and not have to worry about my kids having what they need and some of their wants. She needs to stop B**tc*ing, I can't even afford to take my kids on a day trip to an amusement park, get over yourself most of that money is probably being spent on yourself and not that baby

I had to raise my 4 kids on 400.00 a month while my ex was making 150,000.00 per year. I had to work 12 hour shifts, and on weekends go to the labor pool just to keep rent, electricity and food going for the 9 years before the courts caught up with the bastard and made him pay up... only 5,000 a month? Why should her children suffer a lesser lifestyle than their father? Something's wrong with you if you think that just because you have to live on that small amount it's alright for these fathers to be selfish with their children just to get back at their ex's. What's wrong with you?

This is how folks end up broke, busted and disgusted. Explain to me why either of them need to maintain this level of expenses per month. I think MC Hammer needs to give Nas and call and talk to him about money perservation. Kelis sounds to me like she is angry, bitter and going for broke right about now. Both of them need to give it a little time, let the dust settle, and then work things out like responsible, sensible adults.

That 5K a month was on top of the other stuff he agreed to purchase and take care of, a total of 25K a month she has access to, between her income and his 5K...25K a month 300K a year, I make about 10% of that...running out of money? Here's a tip, quit spending so much of it.

Wow....Now this is funny..Is she going to give NAS money from her flop of a career. She made her own money where is that at. It seems to me that NAS wants to be a stand up dad for his kid. I had 4 children and recieved $50.00 (that's right FIFTY) per week for my kids, that's $200.00 per month and I managed. Thanks to the State of NEW YORK. Women today seem to be so greedy, How much is gonna go to that poor Baby.
