Rev. Run's Son JoJo Slapped on Wrist for Drug Charge

Rev. Run's eldest son JoJo Simmons reaped just one of the many benefits of being rich and famous when he received a gentle one-day community service sentence for his recent drug debacle.

On May 8, the 19-year-old was seen purchasing marijuana and rolling a joint inside a car in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan. According to reports, Simmons Jr. then tried to avoid arrest by reversing his car and nearly backed into the arresting officer's car. He was charged with possession, resisting arrest, attempted reckless endangerment and criminal use of drug paraphernalia, but pleaded guilty to a much lesser charge of disorderly conduct.

JoJo, his famous dad and their lawyer Paul Nalven appeared in court Thursday for the sentencing. Run did not comment on his son's light sentence.

I can't believe he would disappoint his parents and fans like that. I have watched your program from the inception and always thought here is a positive family which we wish to emulate. JoJo, shame on you!

Wow I remember sitting infront of my building on 103 and Broadway. The Rev and his kids on their way to their church, walked passed me and my friends (all sitting in wheelchair, so I know we caused no threats)The Rev just walked pass us and said nothing. No Hi, headnod, nothing as if he and his were all much better then those three nonthreating people who are acknowledging him and his. We were not screaming out his name or anything like that. We just looked, smiled, nodded our heads. So you and yours are just like everyone else huh? Wow

Run's children (JoJO, Vanessa, the other daughter, and the two younger boys) are the most ungrateful and disrespectful kids I've seen. That lifestyle has certainly not worked in their favor. Run's wife needs to get up off the couch and take a more active interest in their lives. Someone needs to be the disciplinarian.

That is about the right sentence for the rich. Since most of them don't ever get to that stage of the crimes that they commit. We probably hear about one percent of the ones that get caught. Why do you think lawyers, judges and some cops have so much money. Especially in Washington.

He may have gotten a light sentence but I'm pretty sure Rev Run is gonna wreak havoc on his son's life!!! You have to admit that his kids are more in check than most celebrity kids out there like Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian

Typical argument is that marijuana makes you stupid and paranoid. What about alcohol? Some people regress to a four year old mentality and judgment after just a few beers. Look at the violence is creates. Look at the families it destroys. Innocent people are getting killed by drunk drivers no matter how much we try to prevent it. Not only does that occur, but look at what it does to our health system! #1 cause for emergency room visits are due to alcohol! Look it up, that is the truth. Its a fact that the US Government makes 75,000 dollars a minute from marijuana fines and court fees, which is also 100% fact. Alcohol is a thousand times more damaging to your body. It converts in the liver to Acetyldehyde which just wreaks havoc on blood cells, bone and brain cells.

Marijuana does none of this, is hardly intoxicating, is now showing in studies to actually regenerate lung tissue and can be used for a plethora of health benefits! Stupid people who smoke marijuana will still be stupid, and yes people who use it (You can eat it, smoke it, drink it, whatever you wish) are only paranoid because the police are after them, and they feel like criminals all the time, while drunken fools act like 4 year olds while poisoning their body at the same time. Can we please have more people waking up?

When you cooperate and show remorse, they WILL give you a light sentence. My friend tried to make some extra money, went with a shady character from his work and got caught with 11 grams of cocaine. After meeting with the DA, she decided he was not a druggie, had much going for his life, and that he was sorry. She gave him a one week in prison sentence with 900.00 fine, which is a slap on the wrist since 11 grams can get you 5-7 years in jail. So this article doesn't give many facts and tries to start a huge internet flip out session over this small insignificant ruling that happens hundreds of times a day, to rich, poor and everything in between.
