Rev. Run's eldest son JoJo Simmons reaped just one of the many benefits of being rich and famous when he received a gentle one-day community service sentence for his recent drug debacle. On May 8, the 19-year-old was seen purchasing marijuana and rolling a joint inside a car in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan. According to reports, Simmons Jr. then tried to avoid arrest by reversing his car and nearly backed into the arresting officer's car. He was charged with possession, resisting arrest, attempted reckless endangerment and criminal use of drug paraphernalia, but pleaded guilty to a much lesser charge of disorderly conduct.
JoJo, his famous dad and their lawyer Paul Nalven appeared in court Thursday for the sentencing. Run did not comment on his son's light sentence.

Seriously!! In Massachusetts it’s pretty much legal to posses under an ounce. They fine you but there aren’t any criminal charges. That’s pretty much legalizing it which I think is smart. Less tax payers dollars on petty misdemeanor cases and more money coming into the state.

.... if it were a kid who didnt have a celebrity name this would not have made the paper , even though the sentence may have been the same.first time offender blah blah blah ... everyone is trying something new these days and as long as noone gets hurt let em be ... of course he tried to get away ... would you want your dad to find out ? he writes the checks after all !

If you have money, you get off, if you don't, you don't get off. That's the way the world works. And if I was in the same position, I would make it easier on my kid if I could. Would it be the best thing? Probably not. They don't learn anything by doing that!

people don't "learn" from serving prison time for drug related offences such as this.

RUN and drugs I did not ever see but Rev Run was accused of rape several years ago. Not sure of the outcome but it just goes to show that no one is squeaky clean. Many celebs have skeletons in their closets just like the rest of us nobodies.

If he wasn't a celebrities kid he might have got a week community service.... I am sure he is getting worse from his Mom and Dad.... It makes them look bad...its a worse toll on the parents.
