Rappers Lil Wayne and T.I. have been tapped to work on Kid Rock's upcoming album. According to reports, the Grammy winners have already recorded songs for the album, which will hit stores some time next year. A follow up to his 2007 triple-platinum release 'Rock and Roll Jesus,' Rock has called on Def Jam Records co-founder, Rick Rubin to produce the album. The former label head is behind some of hip-hop's biggest acts, discovering and cultivating the careers of LL Cool J, The Beastie Boys, and Run-DMC, just to name a few.
Although specific details on Rock's album have yet to be released, the Detroit native will begin recording after completing his current summer tour.
No stranger to hip-hop collaborations, Rock and Wayne performed together at last year's Country Music Awards. Wayne credits Rock as one of his musical inspirations, and is gearing up for the release of his rock album 'Rebirth.' Despite suffering several delays, the album is scheduled to hit stores in September.
