Despite internet rumblings that Jay-Z would make a surprise appearance at Diesel Jeans' U: Music Tour at Webster Hall last night, no such thing occurred. In fact, even headliner Drake was a no show. Two hours into the show there were still "eyewitness accounts" circulating that Hova and even Kanye West were spotted backstage, but while Hova did not pull one of his infamous surprise stints, Kanye, in fact, did make a fleeting appearance.
The Clipse's Malice and Pusha T replaced Drake -- who was probably at home nursing his injury -- breezing through their hits, including 'Grindin',' and 'Mr. Me Too,' to an energetic crowd. And when the duo broke into their new single 'Kinda Like a Big Deal,' West made a sudden appearance from left stage to hammer out his verse on the track, sending the crowd into a frenzy.
