According to reports, Jennifer Lopez is "actively negotiating" with the producers of hit tv show 'American Idol' to replace Paula Abdul. The former fly-girl nixed the rumors a few weeks back, releasing a statement through her rep that she planned to focus on her recording/screen career instead.
"The rumor of Jennifer Lopez throwing herself in the ring to take over for Paula Abdul is completely false," said her rep. "Jennifer loves 'Idol' but just as a fan. She just wrapped the feature film 'The Back Up Plan,' due out January 2010, and will release an album then as well."
However, a popular website is now claiming that the 'Idol' producers and Lopez are close to finalizing a deal to bring J.Lo in to replace Abdul, who recently announced that she was leaving the show via Twitter (classy).
"[Jennifer] and [the producers] are excited about the opportunity," an insider in the Lopez camp is quoted as saying. "If things continue to move like they are now, an agreement could be reached soon."
We can see it happening, but we'll still miss Paula's slurred enthusiasm.
