Last week, we caught a glimpse of Jay-Z's cinematic exploration in a 30-second preview video for 'Run This Town,' the second single off of 'The Blueprint 3' album. The video, which was filmed in the Fort Totten Park section of Queens, NY, caught Hov, Rihanna and Kanye West all donned in black, proclaiming victory over -- what exactly? -- it was hard to say, but yesterday, in a 40-second follow-up clip, Hov explains the concept behind the song, addressing the current sovereignty of his Roc Nation family, after the struggle to the top. "The song is pretty much about evolution and the progress," he said. "You know, you start out as a new artist, you make your way into the game and you climb that mountain and you get to the top and put your flag down. And that's pretty much us putting our flag down. 'This is Roc Nation, pledge your allegiance,' put your flag at the top of the mountain and say we run this town."
Fans will get a chance see Hov, Kanye and Rihanna wave their flag and pledge allegiance to greatness when the video premieres Thursday, Aug. 20 on MTV.
Watch the video after the jump.
