Lil Wayne Cancels Canadian Dates Due to Illness

It was originally reported that Lil Wayne ran into a little trouble crossing the border into Canada causing him to cancel his upcoming performance in Vancouver and nearby Edmonton, but according to a statement released earlier today, it appears the rap star canceled the dates due to illness.

Live Nation, the company promoting the tour, confirmed the cancellation, but failed to mention Wayne's health. "The Lil Wayne show has been canceled due to circumstances beyond Live Nation's control," a spokesperson for the company said in a statement.

"Lil Wayne, due to illness, was advised by his doctors to cancel the Young Money Presents: America's Most Wanted Music Festival tour stops in Western Canada," a statement released today read. "Wayne, his band and crew arrived in Canada with full intention of performing but were forced to cancel the dates due to doctor-mandated rest. Young Money Presents America's Most Wanted Music Festival will continue their tour routing as planned and extends an apology to the fans for the cancellation."

Wayne's Young Money affiliate, J Prince shed light on the situation via his Twitter page, but alluded more to border troubles than illness. "So we pass the border into Vancouver," Prince wrote. "Heading to the venue [and find] out one of the other buses got stopped...So both Canada dates got canceled."

Due to the change in plans, Soulja Boy Tell Em, who is also on tour with Wayne, twittered that he was "gonna' go shoot a video to Successful."

Ironically this latest cancellation is deja vu for his Canadian fans. Last year Wayne abruptly canceled a performance and an appearance in Toronto and Montreal "due to unknown circumstances."
