Rapper Jadakiss made a statement yesterday, claiming he had no involvement in the drug operation that was being run out of an apartment he leased in Yonkers, New York. On Friday, Aug. 21, Police arrested the residents of the apartment, Alberto Lajara (25) and Gabriel R. Henriquez (39), and charged the men with possession of marijuana, disorderly conduct, assault and obstruction of governmental administration. The following day, on Aug. 22, police obtained a warrant to search the apartment, which is leased under Kiss' birth name, Jason Phillips. They confiscated 6.5 pounds of marijuana, 5 grams of heroin and $40,000 cash.
"What happened on Saturday was an unfortunate situation but one in which I have no involvement in," Jadakiss said in his statement. "Since the release of my recent album 'The Last Kiss,' I have been on the road touring and promoting my project. I am focused on my performance schedule and career."
Sources claim the police never considered Jadakiss a suspect, but it is still a regrettable circumstance for the rapper, whose album 'The Last Kiss' remains on Billboard's Hot 200 chart, 19 weeks after its release date.
