As expected, Jay-Z and Alicia Keys joined forces at this year's MTV Movie Awards to perform the rapper's latest Big Apple anthem 'Empire State of Mind.' The hip-hop heavyweight made a grand entrance, arriving right as he was set to take the stage while Keys sat behind the piano, waiting for her cue to launch into the 'Blueprint 3' track. Donning his signature Yankees cap, which he claims to have made "more famous than a Yankee can," Jay appeared on stage, launched into his instant classic and tossed the cap into the crowd. Keys belted out "Count on New York, these streets will make you feel brand new/ Big lights will inspire you," and made her way from behind the piano to stand to the fellow New Yorker, with whom she's never shared the stage with before tonight.
However, the night was not without another awkward moment and Kanye was not the only artist to bum rush the stage. Lil Mama stood next to Hov and Keys as they wrapped up the song. The young rapper is not featured on the track and was not expected to join the pair. The impromptu appearances are quite entertaining but we predict security will be a little tighter next year.
