Nas and Kelis Reuniting?

Maybe time does heal all wounds, or maybe the birth of a new baby does? Either way rapper Nas and ex-wife Kelis, who recently welcomed their first child, may be headed down the road to reconciliation. According to reports, the former couple was spotted getting extra close at a New York City nightclub Monday.

The twosome arrived together at New York hot spot Marquee for a private party. The rumor mill is buzzing that several celebrities were in tow and reportedly saw the pair being much friendlier than in recent months. If the reports are true, this reunion is a far cry from their public battles since Kelis filed for divorce in April.

Nas was ordered to pay Kelis $44,000 per month in child and spousal support. A displeased Kelis retorted that the Queens-bred emcee brings home upwards of $200,000 per month compared to her $13,744. She is asking for over $400,000 in addition to the $44,000 per month.

Leading up to the birth of their newborn son, Knight Jones, Kelis took to her Twitter page to air out her frustrations over her dilapidated marriage. One particular post about cheaters alluded to a possible cause in the couple's dissolution. "This lovely day I would like to touch on cheaters," she wrote. "Why be cowardly, why not go after what you really want? Do people know what they want? Probably not, which just goes into know and respecting one's self. Also we can discuss whores, I mean the nasty, sub-par tricks that participate in the cheating. Well let me say this, both parties are gross. And in reality they deserve each other."

A judge will decide this month if Nas must increase his child and spousal support payments.

thats stupid that Nas is paying Kelis all that money to take care of a baby. the judge probably order that because Kelis aint making a record no time soon and her husband a rapper.

I never respond to these things but the comments quite frankly are making me sick. It is not just the woman's job to take care of babys. If everyone wants it to be fair then simply add up the extra cost of living (ie: for the bigger house, vehicle, extra cost of groceries/supplies, extra utilities), everything the child needs for school (including lunch money and money needed for supplies, field trips, etc.), clothes/shoes/assesories for the year, supplies for parties, holiday/birthday presents, extra gas to run them around, sports and activity fees and uniforms, medical, childcare, hair cuts, security costs as in the case of celebrities and everything else that goes with raising a child and split it in half. Make this what the absent parent has to pay regardless of what they make since the child has to have it regardless as well. Don't have enough? Then you shouldn't be sleeping with people and having babies. Can't pay? Charge them with child neglect. Just because the relationship breaks up and someone has to maintain another household doesn't mean that the first one still doesn't exsist. Only then will child support be fair. BTW, I am married to my shildren's father but this is just common sense, period.

This is just plain evil woman stuff (greed). She is already getting $44,000 per month, thats $528,000(over half million dollars that she certainly did'nt earn) a year. Plus, her $13,744 per month comes out to nearly $165,000 per year. Why would want to torment someone financially that way. It should not matter how much he is making, she should not be entitled to more than half of it, she did'nt help him make that money. He is already faithfully providing a more than generous amount each month $44,000, COME ON NOW!?! Plus her earnings of nearly $14,000 a month? What makes her think she should get a cut every time he gets a raise??? And now she wants and Additional $400,000 more than the man makes? She is soooooo very, very, very scandalous!!!
Personally, I beleive that the courts should administer and audit the spending of child support payments to make sure not one cent is spent of the parent that has custody. Upwards of 75% of child support received is being spent by and on the custodial parent. Receipts for clothing, goods, food, school and entertainment should be mandatory. This would stop scandalous parents from using the support to buy weaves, getting nails and toes done, jewelry, clothes, and alcohol and drugs.

If you and your child can't leave off of 44,000 a month you have a major problem.

It's not a question of what is too much or too little, the amount paid may depend on the couple's lifestyle and other factors. In any event, the child is entitled to enjoy that lifestyle if the parents enjoy it. We can't compare our individual situations with that of someone else. Obviously, people's incomes vary.

The main problem is the way the laws are written, the way that the support money is figured. It should come as no surprise that if she were not earning the amount granted would be higher. The people to complain to are the folks that make the laws in your state. I guess that the moral of the story is, when you pick the father of your children..pick one that is famous and makes a lot of money. I would also consider throwing the sorry arsed ones that don't pay into jail. It is a vicious circle and no one wins, esp. not the kids.
